Sean Avery paced the Rangers with two goals

Sean Avery likes playing against the Flyers for some reason. Perhaps it's the way the Flyers like to play the game. Perhaps it had less to do with the Flyers, and more to do with being a healthy scratch for the first time as a Ranger. Whatever the case he responded, and he responded well.
The Rangers went into today's matinee game looking for a crucial two points, and on the way they got a great game from the Grate One. Avery chipped in two goals to help the Rangers to a 3-1 win over their division rivals, and held their opponents to just 18 shots on goal....more

The Rangers close out their season series against the Capitals tonight - MSG+ 7:00pm and game thread - and will be hoping to even the series at 2-2. The last time the Capitals played the Rangers, they leaped out to a 5-3 lead on the back of four power play goals, only to lose 6-5 in regulation. more

Lundqvist's 50 Not Enough

Rangers netminder Henrik Lundqvist did everything he could to earn the Rangers some points against the Pittsburgh Penguins tonight, but ultimately a Wade Redden hooking call in overtime would prove the difference. more

The Rangers host the Pittsburgh Penguins tonight - 7:00pm MSG and game day thread - a team they're 1-4-0 against this season. The lone win was a 3-2 OT victory that the Rangers secured in Pittsburgh just before the Olympic break, to break a seven game losing streak overall, along with a six game streak in the Penguins building. more

Larry Brooks writes in the New York Post that the Rangers did not pursue a trade that would bring Sheldon Souray to New York.
He goes on to say that the team did look into perhaps getting Pavol Demitra, but there were no serious discussions.
